Banh Mi Cao (Vietnamese Brunch)
two fried egg, slice of house-made pork pate, char siu pork, beef and pork bun cha, light hoisin sauce, fresh baked Vietnamese bread
1920s Shanghai glamour. Late-night lounge energy.
Mama San has stood on Jalan Kerobokan for more than fifteen years, and Seminyak has changed around it.
The room still belongs to 1920s Shanghai: dark timber, green silk banquettes, chandeliers hung low. The kitchen belongs to Will Meyrick, and to decades spent eating his way across Southeast Asia.
Come at noon for a quick lunch. Come at nine and stay for the evening. The room changes with the hours, and most people end up knowing both.

The first tables sit down at noon. By mid-afternoon the shopping bags from Jalan Oberoi are under the banquettes, there is a phin coffee dripping slowly, and a plate of dim sum nobody is in a hurry to finish.

This is always our first stop restaurant when we’re in Bali. It never fails to satisfy. In fact, we make it our first stop so we can normally sneak in a second visit whilst we are here. Food, service, price, and decor are all first class.

Mamasan never disappoints, my 5th time eating here on my last 5 trips. Food is great and the service is the best in Bali, cocktails are also on point. The presentation of the dishes is amazing and only outdone by the taste. My favourite restaurant in Bali.

We had an amazing dinner here, very much Melbourne Asian fusion vibes in the best possible way. The spicy tuna ceviche was amazing. If you like prawn toast and Takoyaki, the prawn toast is a must order! Will definitely be back next time I am in Seminyak.

Our new favourite place to eat in Bali. Amazing ambience, the best Asian fusion I have ever had… anywhere. We had different dishes every time we visited and they all exceeded expectations. Very good wine list and amazing cocktails.

Seminyak restaurants run from Jalan Kayu Aya down to Jalan Kerobokan, more of them than one trip can hold. Where to eat comes down to the hour: something light after the shops, a long dinner once the sun has gone. These are the things we tell friends to fit around the table.
